VP of Engineering. Maryland Terrapin. Loud shirts, louder singing.
I joined Team Engine as employee #5 eight years ago. I wrote much of the platform, then built and led the team that runs it — all while our customer base grew 10x. Today I’m VP of Engineering, and I still love breaking production with my code.

Experience
2024 – now
VP of Engineering, Team Engine
I lead product and engineering. I took us through SOC 2 Type 2 and moved the team to two-week sprints. Lately I’ve been building AI into the product, while helping customers adapt as the job boards they rely on change their rules.
2022 – 2024
Director of Engineering, Team Engine
I built the team, drove hiring, and designed how we worked: pods, on-call rotation, incident retros, data-driven yearly review — to name a few. When new carrier rules changed business texting, I redesigned how we use phone numbers, and made it so every customer was registered automatically.
2018 – 2022
Employee #5 (Software Engineer), Team Engine
I wrote much of the platform’s foundation: text and email messaging, job distribution to Indeed and other boards, calendar integrations, and the shared database layer. The text-message queue I designed has been in production for more than six years. I also built our employee engagement product, a bet we made in 2020 that continues to drive value for customers.
2016 – 2018
Senior Consultant, Booz Allen Hamilton
I built features for LCMP, a lifecycle-management platform for the Department of Defense. I re-architected parts of it to host new Angular apps, designed the core UI library that kept its screens consistent, and co-led an automated-testing initiative.
2014 – 2016
Consultant, Dante Inc.
I architected and shipped the iOS app for Ouli, a personal concierge app for the DC area, plus an iOS SDK with Apple Pay and iBeacon support. I also broke a monolith into microservices, automated our AWS environments, and gave a TEDx talk on what Ouli could do for a city.

IT Intern, BD
I gathered requirements for an internal service, then designed and built the website that replaced a manual business process.
2012 – 2013
Intern, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory
I designed and built a real-time FPGA system for generating arbitrary waveforms.
2010 – 2013
B.S. Computer Science, University of Maryland
QUEST Honors Program. As a Teaching Fellow, I designed and taught a course on web development (BMGT 408C).

About
Off the clock I’m a dad first, and after that usually on a golf course, probably in a loud shirt.
I live in Northern Virginia, just outside DC.
- I play three instruments: piano, guitar, and voice. Yes, voice counts, and I use it often and enthusiastically, mostly on pop punk and classic rock.
- Lego builds are on display all over my home and office. The giant Star Trek: The Next Generation set is still waiting for me.
- I’m probably watching something old, like Batman ’66, Mission: Impossible, or Smokey and the Bandit.
- Ask me a trivia question. If I don’t know the answer, I owe you a beer.
- Before I settled on software, I spent most of college with an oscilloscope and a soldering iron.
